Mirthify is excited to announce that we have entered two games, Brackets and The Frame Game, into a design contest hosted by The Game Crafter!
This contest is the perfect platform to debut some original ideas and to practice using The Game Crafter tools as we develop our catalog. The Word Up Challenge will include community voting (free to join) and final judging by a fellow indie designer. Please follow along with contest updates on our website or social media throughout the competition.
The Frame Game: The word search with obstacles
The Frame Game puts a unique twist on classic word searches, complete with obstacles, opponents, and a ticking clock!
Stack a frame on top of your letter mat, flip the timer, and write as many words as you can think of using the letters you see. Tally up the points and see who came out on top!
As requested in the challenge, The Frame Game seeks to give every player a chance to be winner, not just those who know the longest words. Three sets of frames allow you to choose easy, medium, or hard levels of play, blocking out more letters if you choose the higher difficulties. Don’t worry, though! You’ll get bonus points for the brain workouts.
The Frame Game is designed for 2-4 players, ages 12 and up. It’s a quick game, so you’ll want to play it again and again! With 8 letter mats and 12 frames to choose from, The Frame Game has a lot of replayability.
Brackets: The tournament of witty responses
Brackets is word association party game in the style of a tournament. Players are dealt a handful of cards with random words and phrases. Choose the Response card(s) that best fit the game’s Theme and fill in the tournament brackets. Then vote as a group to select winners and eliminate others.
Brackets has a super fun and super quick tie-breaking rule to keep the laughs rolling as the game moves forward. In the end, only one witty response will be crowned Champion!
This game features a two-sided board to allow for more group sizes to participate, with as few as 2 and as many as 12 players A smaller group improves your odds of winning, but a larger group makes for an exhilarating voting process! Suggested ages are 12+ years.
